S-FAB Fabrication Inc. is a sister company to Safety Power Inc.; a leading Canadian cleantech company, supplying to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft. We are looking for an experienced Welder to join our growing team!

Role Overview

Welding and repairing metal components, assemblies and structures according to technical engineering drawings and specifications. WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED WELDER WITH AT LEAST 3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN FCAW/GTAW/GMAW WELDING.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up welding machines and tools, based on job specifications.

- Fit, tack, and weld components, sub-components and assemblies in accordance with technical drawings and tolerances.

- Ensure all appropriate filtration devices are used in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and compony policies.

- Cross train and mentor junior Welders to become equally proficient in producing quality welds.

- Operate various machinery for cutting, drilling and grinding in accordance with safety regulations.

- Inspect completed welds for accuracy and quality in accordance to set specifications.

- Detect and correct any welding defect.

- Establish and continually enhance best practices procedures for welding components, assemblies and structures.

- Perform maintenance on welding equipment (torch, whips, regulator and base) tools.

- Ensure minimum safety stock inventory of welding supplies are in place when removing any item from the welding inventory stock. If stock is low, immediately escalate to the Team Leader / Production Manager.

- Work collaboratively with all team members to ensure safety and production goals are met.

- Complete all required inspection documentation and uploading prior to advancing unit forward in process.

- Keep work area organized and perform General housekeeping prior to end of shift.

- Promote a strong safety culture, enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.

- Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with Company specifications, including all local, provincial and federal regulations (OSHA, ESA, CSA, etc.) Immediately report unsafe conditions to Team Leader / Production Manager within the department.

- Other duties as assigned by Team Leader / Production Manager.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

- Valid CWB.

- Certified to weld in the following positions; flat (1F/1G).

- Perform various types of welding (FCAW, TIG/GTAW, MIG/GMAW, Stick/SMAW) at a proficient level on various components, assemblies and structures of stainless steel.

- Minimum 3 years of welding experience in an industrial manufacturing or fabrication environment.

- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications according to engineering requirements.

- Ability to work within a team and independently, to complete daily activities according to work schedule.

- Crane license an asset.

- Detail oriented.

- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.

- Good verbal and written communication skills in English is required.

- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and tools required in various fabrication process.

Job Demands & Working Conditions

- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, vibration and metal dust from welding process.

- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.

- Required to lift and handle heavy objects up to 50 lbs.

- Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available.

- Ability to climb or balance, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist, and climb throughout entire shift.

- Required to wear PPE (welding helmet, welding gloves, safety glasses, safety boots, ear plugs are required).

- This role requires use of fitted respirators (clean-shaven required). Employees unable to meet this requirement may use a company-provided PAPR in accordance with company policy, including applicable rental terms.

- May require overtime and weekend shift work depending on production demand
