- Generation Compliance Specialists support Santee Cooper's generating facilities by ensuring compliance with NERC standards that apply to Generation Owners and Operators.
- This position is responsible for interpreting regulatory requirements, developing internal policy and procedures, monitoring compliance activities, and maintaining well-organized compliance evidence documentation.
- Compliance Specialists are tasked with preparing and submitting all reports and responses to regulatory requests and audits and must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicants should be experienced with regulatory compliance management and possess a fundamental knowledge of Generation equipment such as turbines, generators, transformers, batteries, relays and industrial control systems.
- This position may support higher career level positions while receiving a moderate level of guidance and direction.
- Individuals shall develop their knowledge of NERC compliance requirements as well as electrical generating station processes, systems, and operations.
- As a member of the Generation Services Team, this position will report to the Superintendent of Generation Technical Services and will collaborate closely with the corporate NERC Compliance Department as well as Generation, Transmission and Technology Services personnel.
- Maintain knowledge of SERC/NERC/FERC compliance requirements for Generation through independent research and also including participation in seminars, group meetings, online webinars, and any other opportunities for NERC networking with peer groups.
- Provide services and monitor the actions of power plant personnel to ensure compliance with all SERC/NERC/FERC requirements through automated task reminder software, contact with responsible station employees, and correspondence with station management.
- Document and maintain compliance evidence for audits and maintain knowledge of the evidence for explanation to auditors. Full knowledge of all station documentation must be maintained at all times, and prompt electronic access is required during NERC audits.
- Monitor proposed regulatory requirements for potential upgrades to generating unit equipment, software, and operational changes necessitated by new proposals. Recommend changes and coordinate planning with the generation stations to meet NERC deadlines.
- Develop, maintain, and revise NERC compliance procedures and ensure proper and timely implementation for all generating unit assets.
- Monitor, develop, and submit all Generation compliance certifications properly and in a timely manner in coordination with NERC Compliance and Coordination.
