Reporting to the Controller, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting, payroll, and financial reporting for the corporate entities of the Company and its Clients. This role supports a lean finance team in a public company environment and requires strong ownership, accountability, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Additional ad hoc responsibilities may be assigned as business needs evolve.
- Perform day-to-day accounting for multiple Canadian corporate entities, including:
- Accounts payable and payments processing
- Employee expense report management
- Bank account administration and treasury processes
- Month-end close activities
- GST calculation and filings
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledgers
- Ensure compliance with CRA and other applicable regulatory requirements
- End-to-end payroll processing using ADP and Ceridian for multiple entities
- Process semi-monthly salaried payroll
- Maintain payroll records and update for changes
- Prepare annual payroll reconciliations and tax filings (T4s)
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries in QuickBooks Online- Coordinate and process payments for those employees outside of standard payroll (non-residents)
- Prepare and file all required payroll‑related regulatory filings (EHT, WCB, CRA)
- Preparing Records of Employment (ROEs) as required
- Full cycle accounting for Canadian corporate entities
- Prepare internal management reporting, including cash position, cost reports and variance analysis
- Assist with financial forecasting as plans change and actual results evolve
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, MD&A and other external reporting documents.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, working papers and supporting schedules
- Prepare and review shared cost allocations and related company charge backs and reconciliation.
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll, tax credits, foreign exchange and non routine transactions
- Ensure adherence to established financial control and accounting policies
- Support continuous improvement of financial control process in Canada
- Assist in maintaining the internal control design and effectiveness under supervision of the Corporate Controller, CFO, and Client CFOs.
- Canadian CPA designation or 3+ years full-cycle accounting experience
- Minimum 2+ years full-cycle Canadian payroll experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online
- Work effectively under tight reporting deadlines
- Communicate clearly and coordinate with team members
- Operate with a high degree of independence, initiative, and accountability
This role is currently fully remote and limited to candidates residing in Canada. The position may transition to hybrid or in‑office work, subject to reasonable notice, if the Company establishes a physical office in the future. Success in this role requires comfort working independently in a remote environment while remaining highly responsive and accountable within a small finance team.
