Control Software Engineering Intern Summer 2026

As a Control Software Engineering intern, you will work with an experienced Software Engineer to provide software engineering support at a zirconium manufacturing facility for equipment, systems, and processes for use in the commercial nuclear power industry.

You will report to the Lead Engineer and be located at our Ogden facility. This is a paid full-time onsite position for the summer.

- Develop software engineering skills for use in a manufacturing controls environment, including coding, documentation, and troubleshooting

- Learn control software components, such as: PLCs, HMIs, I/O, and industrial networking

- Upgrade existing systems to updated platforms, and create software solutions for new systems

- Provide daily technical engineering support for software systems, instrumentation, and controls for plant processing equipment, data capture, and maintenance

- Develop and execute test plans to ensure proper operation of systems and validation of designs

- Ensure compliance to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements for control systems

- Identify causes of failures in systems, and recommend resolutions

Qualifications:

- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in omputer science or computer engineering, with a focus on software engineering

- Minimum GPA of 3.0

- Completed Sophomore year of college

- Working knowledge of general coding and documentation best practices, including Software Detailed Design documents

- No relocation assistance provided

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.50 per hour.
