Construction Project Manager – Solar, BESS, EV Charging (C&I)
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead Commercial & Industrial (C&I) energy projects, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and EV charging infrastructure. This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle across multiple concurrent projects in various U.S. markets.
This is a senior-level position requiring hands-on experience delivering complex commercial energy projects from development through commissioning.
- Manage projects from pre-construction through closeout
- Oversee permitting, AHJ coordination, and approvals
- Coordinate and manage engineering resources (internal and external)
- Assist or lead utility interconnection applications and coordination
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
- Review and manage:
- Subcontractor contracts and scopes
- RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Pay applications and progress billing
- Coordinate procurement, equipment sourcing, and subcontractor prequalifying and sourcing
- Support and perform estimating and construction take-offs as needed
- Serve as the primary point of contact between:
- Clients
- Subcontractors
- Internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies- 5–10+ years of project management experience in:
- Solar PV (C&I scale)
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- EV charging infrastructure
- Proven experience managing multi-state projects
- Strong knowledge of:
- Construction practices and sequencing
- Blueprint and plan set interpretation
- Energy systems integration
- Must have a minimum of 4-year degree, preferably in construction management, engineering, or a related field
- Ability to pass a background check and qualify for entrance onto secure client campuses
- PMP certification
- Experience with:
- Utility interconnection processes (including leading or supporting applications)
- Permitting and AHJ coordination
- Managing subcontractors and vendor relationships
- Experience with estimating, cost control, and construction take-offs
- Experience with project management tools (Procore, MS Project, etc.)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-state environment
- Projects located across multiple U.S. states
- Travel required as needed based on project demands
- Possible hybrid position, but starting fulltime in Martinez, CA (first 3-6 months)
