Bandera Electric Cooperative proudly distributes electricity to members across seven counties in Central Texas. The BEC Fiber division, began offering 100% fiber broadband in 2017 and currently provides fiber internet service to members and subscribers in eight counties in the Texas Hill Country.

Our Marketing & Communications Team is looking for a Community Relations Specialist. The Community Relations Specialist is responsible for managing BEC’s sponsorships, donations, and community outreach initiatives in alignment with the cooperative’s strategic plan and goals. This role ensures BEC’s community support efforts are well-organized, data-driven, and impactful. The Community Relations Specialist also oversees youth engagement programs such as scholarships and Youth Tour, builds strong relationships with schools, and represents BEC at educational events. This position plays a central role in tracking, evaluating, and planning community investments to ensure BEC remains a trusted and visible partner in the communities we serve.

Essential Job Duties

Marketing and Communications

- Manage intake, tracking, and responses for all sponsorship and donation requests

- Coordinate with accounting for approvals, check requests, and reporting

- Track and manage the community outreach budget

- Collect and analyze data to evaluate sponsorship effectiveness and community impact

- Provide recommendations to align support with BEC’s strategic plan and initiatives

- Oversee Youth Tour and Scholarship programs from application through execution

- Serve as liaison with students, parents, schools, and organizing partners.

- Attend and chaperone Youth Tour as needed

- Build relationships with schools to expand awareness of youth opportunities

- Represent BEC at career days, Ag days, and educational programs

- Support the BEC Foundation with fundraising efforts, marketing support, materials, logistics, and promotions

- Assist with the annual golf tournament and other community-related initiatives

- Works closely with the Marketing Design Specialist, Marketing Specialist, Communications Specialist and the Community and Economic Development Coordinator

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Strong skills in written and verbal communication, with the ability to represent BEC professionally in the community.

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple sponsorships, donations, and events simultaneously.

- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, track, and execute community programs and outreach initiatives.

- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to track sponsorship impact, manage budgets, and align outreach with BEC’s strategic goals.

- High attention to detail and accuracy when processing sponsorship requests, youth applications, and budget tracking.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with schools, nonprofits, and community partners.

- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing priorities, timelines, and community needs.

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.

- Enjoys engaging with both internal staff and external community stakeholders on behalf of BEC.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing preferred

Experience

- 1 to 3 years of experience in community relations, nonprofit program management, sponsorship coordination, or a related field.

- Experience managing sponsorships, donations, or community outreach budgets.

- Experience working with schools, nonprofits, or community organizations to plan and deliver programs or events.

- Strong background in relationship-building and stakeholder engagement.

- Experience coordinating youth programs, scholarships, or educational initiatives preferred.

- Experience supporting fundraising or foundation activities is a plus.

Additional Requirements

- Valid Texas Driver’s License and related insurance

- Must pass background and drug screening

Working Conditions:

The working conditions for this position involve a fast-paced work environment, with tight deadlines and a focus on multiple tasks and projects. This position is both in office and outdoor settings, with a focus on computer work and utilizing online marketing resources and tools as well as representing the cooperative at multiple locations. This position requires the ability to work quickly under pressure or deadlines while dealing with multiple tasks. The work environment may be sedentary or involve traveling to alternate indoor and outdoor locations and involves working with confidential information. The position requires occasional travel to other locations within the cooperative. Tobacco free office environment.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements for this position include the ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods, as well as the ability to drive. The job also involves reaching at chest to shoulder level, which may require some elbow and wrist flexion and extension and wrist rotation. Must be able to lift 45 lbs. The job may involve some repetitive motions and could require some dexterity in order to handle and operate equipment, such as computers, cameras, audio and visual equipment. Additional sensory demands include hearing, speech, color vision, near vision, far vision, spatial perception, tactile.
