Location Role: Hybrid (with flexible travel to NH, MA, VT)
The Community Relations Manager’s primary responsibility is to act as liaison between GRH, the general public, the host communities where our facilities are located, public safety agencies, and certain other governmental and non-governmental stakeholders. This role will be responsible for various external communications, community engagement, community development, initiatives to create and implement community communication plans in partnership with the VP, External Affairs.
This role travels regularly to company offices and facilities and communities located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and occasionally elsewhere as required to perform the functions. Limited overnight and out of the region travel could be required.
- Maintains positive stakeholder relations throughout all 52 communities where GRH operates.
- Demonstrates strong judgment while working cross-functionally to solicit input and expertise from pertinent teams within GRH and responds to issues externally that may impact our communities and/or our business interests.
- Provides community relations and stakeholder engagement support for a variety of internal GRH functions (ex: Dam Safety and Growth initiatives).
- Monitors traditional media and social media to maintain corporate awareness matters receiving public attention.
- Monitors public communication channels for community relations, including CR email and phone mailboxes, to ensure prompt responses.
- Directly responds to all manner of public inquiries via phone, email, and other communication methods, including from members of the press.
- Develops and implements community specific strategies that communicate/reenforce GRH’s mission, vision, and values.
- Manages corporate community investment and employee engagement programs.
- Ensures relevant documentation is maintained in accordance with company expectations including: reports, surveys and other related information; and
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.- 3+ years prior/progressive experience in a public relations environment (power generation experience is a plus).
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field of study is preferred, experience in lieu of degree will also be considered.
- Experience creating and implementing external communication plans, including crisis communication management, utilizing modern communication strategies.
- Experience working closely and building trust across all levels and excellent interpersonal skills, including effective communication/presentation and public speaking skills.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout MA, NH, VT (up to 50%);
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; strong time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; and
- Excellent PC skills, including MS Office with an emphasis on SharePoint.

Temperatures may vary depending on location and noise levels in all areas are within acceptable tolerance ranges for those specific work areas. Employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE depending on working location.
