The Paducah McCracken County Joint Sewer Agency is an independent municipality that maintains the sanitary sewer network for Paducah and McCracken County. The agency is currently hiring for a collection system employee. Qualifications: Qualified applicant should possess 1) high school diploma or equivalent, 2) background experience related to the operation and maintenance of equipment and construction activities related to underground piping or the wastewater field, 3) strong computer skills, 4) ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL license. Experience in the handling of heavy equipment and machinery is preferred, but not required.
Illustrative Duties: Performs routine maintenance/checks on equipment, performs semi-skilled manual labor duties (e.g. cut, fit, bed and install pipe, unclogs pipes, install valves, fittings, cuts/welds, grinds steel, cast iron and other metals)
- Performs the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of gravity sewers and force mains
- Operates equipment such as a backhoe, trackhoe, dump truck, skid steer and other construction equipment
- Performs general housekeeping
- Performs routine building maintenance repairs
- Performs general labor activities
- Performs other assigned duties
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time; tolerate various temperatures and climates; operate internal radio system.
The Paducah McCracken Joint Sewer Agency is a 24-hour utility. This position will be required to respond to various issues outside of normal working hours. This position will be required to serve on an “on-call” basis as per a defined schedule. This position may be required to perform work during varying types of shifts.
The typical hours are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday. No travel is required. The agency will work with the employee to obtain license and certifications, such as a CDL license.
