We’re looking for an experienced Collections Clerk who takes ownership of results and values accuracy and follow-through. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of customer accounts, monitor payment activity, and work closely with internal partners to resolve issues. The ideal candidate has solid experience in collections and accounts receivable and thrives in an environment where initiative and communication matter.
Candidates for this position may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other necessary assessments.
Some of the work that you will do
- Contact customers to verify receipt of invoices
- Contact customers regarding past due balances and assist with payment resolution
- Maintain and document all customer communications in Business Central
- Verify and complete lien waivers in accordance with project and customer requirements
- Prepare customer statements
- Analyze and reconcile customer accounts to ensure accuracy
- Identify, apply, and post daily cash receipts
- Support sales invoicing process as needed
- Run and review customer credit reports
- Complete various customer documentation as required
- Match credits or identify required refunds to customers
- Coordinate with billing and accounting teams to correct errors and post adjustments
- Perform other duties as assigned
Here are the skills that you will need
- High school diploma required; associate degree preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in collections, billing, and accounts receivable
- Strong understanding of credit, billing, and payment processes
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- The ability to be persistent with collection efforts
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, editing PDFs and ERP/accounting software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing environments
Here are the skills and qualifications that will set you apart
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience with Business Central or similar accounting platforms
- Demonstrated success collecting high-volume or complex accounts
- Ability to work at a computer workstation and use a phone for extended periods
- Regularly required to move about the office and interact with team members
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
