Co-op Student - Computer/Electrical Engineer (Robotics) - May Summer 2026

The location of this role is in Horne Payne Burnaby, BC.
We are seeking a team-oriented Co-op student who demonstrates strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving
skills to provide assistance and gain hands-on experience in data analytics, computer sciences, and advanced robotic
applications in the utility industry.
Activities may include:
- Data preparation and analysis, statistics, and predictive modeling
- Documentation and report writing for business stakeholders
- Supporting the deployment and operation of Boston Dynamics SPOT robots in electrical substation environments for
- Assisting with the setup, calibration, and operation of sensors for thermal imaging, acoustic monitoring, and LiDAR
- Developing and optimizing software code for automated inspection routines, data capture, and analytics
The student will learn about the utility industry and gain valuable experience in robotics, data analytics, and predictive
maintenance technologies while developing communication skills, computer skills, and professional judgment.
- To qualify as a candidate, individual's must be enrolled and yet to graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in
- 3rd of 4th year students studying Electrical or Mechatronics or Computer engineering; previous work experience will be
- Strong analytical skills, combined with good judgement and ability to learn quickly.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access). Confident at learning new and
- Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills are an asset and the ability to work efficiently,
- As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required. This may include: reference

- Both positions will be hired first as a four month work term with a strong opportunity to extend, to eight months.
- Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
