Berry Iron and Metal Company is now hiring Truck Drivers to be based out of Chilhowie, VA. These positions offer steady, year-round work in well-maintained equipment consisting of primarily local runs.

Truck Driver tasks include:

- Operation of trucks in a safe and courteous manner including safe delivery and deposit of containers/trailers to the supplier and pick up of containers/trailers and delivery to the designated site for recycling on a daily basis.

- Operation of dump trailers.

- Completion of a pre/post trip inspection of vehicle each operating day.

- Securing loads safely and correctly before leaving the facility or a customer jobsite.

- Checking trailers and all equipment for damage before delivery and pick up.

- Checking the loads for proper weight distribution and securement.

- Communicating via cell phone with customer personnel for directions.

- Cleaning of truck and trailers.

- Ensuring all products are correctly accounted for on daily paperwork.

- Ensuring that all paperwork is turned in to Plant Clerk daily.

- Complying with company Safety Regulations and Procedures Policy.

- Maintaining DOT Daily Driver Logs and submission to Superintendent as required.

- Assisting in loading and unloading of trucks, maintenance, and general labor as required.

Preferred qualifications:

- Class A CDL Required.

- Minimum of 2 years driving experience.

- No major accidents in the past 3 years & minimal moving violations.

- Experience with dump trucks a plus.

- Experience and ability to operate other heavy equipment is a plus.

- Ability to pass a criminal background check as well as a drug screen.

- Sound knowledge of all DOT Regulations.

- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

- Must be able to stand/walk for 1-2 hours a day.

- Must be able to sit for 8-10 hours while driving and loading/unloading the tractor trailer.

- Ability to work outdoors with temperature/climate changes

Compensation:

Truck Driver positions start at $23.00 per hour straight time; Berry Iron and Metal Company offers competitive pay commensurate with ability and experience.
