The Blast and Coat Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and reliability of blasting and coating equipment, while also performing surface preparation and coating work as required. This position plays a critical role in ensuring blasting and coating systems remain operational, safe, and compliant in remote Arctic environments.

- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues on blasting pots, spray pumps, airless systems, and compressors
- Perform preventative maintenance on blasting and coating equipment
- Repair or replace hoses, valves, seals, nozzles, regulators, gauges, and fittings
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety compliance
- Maintain inventory of repair parts and consumables
- Perform minor fabrication or modification of equipment components as needed
- Ensure equipment is winterized and suitable for Arctic operating conditions
- Document maintenance activities and complete required reports
- Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation as needed
- Assist with industrial coating application
- Set up containment systems and work platforms
- Ensure proper surface preparation standards are met
- Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
- Maintain compliance with the required HSE Training.
- Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
- Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
- Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives.
- Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
- Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
- Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
- Promote and participate in Safety Programs.

- Strong understanding of corrosion control and coating systems
- Understanding of surface prep standards (SSPC / NACE preferred)
- Ability to read coating specifications and technical data sheets
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
- Knowledge of airless spray systems, blasting equipment, and compressors
- Ability to read and interpret coating specifications and technical data sheets
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Experience maintaining air compressors and industrial spray equipment
- Understanding of corrosion control and coating systems
- Ability to work independently in remote locations
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- NSTC card
- Experience performing mechanical maintenance and equipment repair
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors. This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

- MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
- LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
- HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
- VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
- RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
