Southern Home Services Company, is looking for a dynamic-Benefits Specialist to join a thriving business that believes in work life balance and cares about YOU! This position is responsible for providing support for day-to-day benefits administration for 26 business locations in 12 states.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Serves as the link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering policies, and helping to resolve benefit-related issues. Recommends and implements resolution of employee and vendor benefit-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
•Manages benefit enrollments, open enrollment, employee transfers, and status changes.
•Oversees and manages employee leave, including FMLA and disability claims.
•Oversees and manages employee qualifying life events and COBRA.
•Manages communications to employees and managers regarding employee benefits.
•Managers, complies and pays employee benefit invoices.
•Acts as a back-up of the multi-state payroll function and can run the weekly payroll if needed.
•Performs acquisitions Due Diligence and company set up.
•Prepares acquisition documents, offer letters and packets for employees and management.
•Travels to acquisition locations (requires out of state travel) to onboard employees and to present employee benefits and other information to groups of employees and managers.
•Performs acquisition post onboarding company set-up and presentations.
•Manages company wellness programs.
•Maintain confidentiality of employee data.
•Knowledge of employee compensation practices.
•Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employee benefits and employment.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
•Education/Experience: High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in HR-related field preferred, one to three years of benefit experience, or any similar combination of education and experience.
•Working knowledge of employee benefits, and employment law practices and procedures.
•Ability to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to make presentations to small groups.
•Strong computer skills, including intermediate knowledge of Excel.
•Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
•Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
•Excellent analytical abilities.
•Knowledge and experience with Paylocity or related payroll and benefits systems.
•Ability to travel both locally and out of state to onboard employees from new acquisitions.
The physical requirements of this job include:
•Perform work while sitting and/or standing at an individual work station or office
•Communicate verbally via phone or other communication device.
•Ability to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone
•Use hands to type, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
•Occasionally stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 10 pounds.
•Work is usually performed in an indoor office environment.
