Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an Area Engineer to join our all-star team. We’re looking for:

- A people person:

We need someone who’s a natural when it comes to building relationships—whether it's with customers, teammates, or anyone else you work with. You know how to connect, listen, and make people feel heard, especially when things get tough.

- Flexible mindset:

You’re curious and flexible - the Swiss Army knife of capabilities. You thrive in situations where there isn’t always a playbook and love coming up with creative ways to tackle challenges.

- An effective communicator:

You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to convey information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences. You are an attentive listener, ensuring you fully understand others before responding and making space for different perspectives.

- Someone who is results-oriented:

You demonstrate a strong work ethic and approach every task with a positive, results-driven attitude. Your dedication and persistence inspire those around you, and your commitment to achieving goals ensures that objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

- You are an engineering wizard:

You consistently produce thorough, accurate documentation, calculations, and design materials that meet professional engineering standards and project requirements.

What you’ll do:

Here is a sample of what your workdays may look like:

- Oversee multiple assets including plants, stations, and pipelines.

- Partner with area operations and commercial personnel to ensure personal & process safety, environmental, reliability, regulatory compliance, and business objectives are achieved.

- Identify technical issues, risks, and value adding opportunities and then support in appropriately addressing them through application of company and engineering management system programs.

- Provide engineering leadership and participation in management of change (MOC), incident and failure analysis, and risk assessment.

- Represent engineering as a key stakeholder on the Local Asset Team (LAT), driving initiatives to completion and clearly communicating engineering risks to the LAT and Leadership.

- Support capital processes by completing engineering investigations to provide root causes for solution development.

- Develop/delegate generation of new project justification (NPJ) documentation for the asset 5-year plans and provide subject matter expert input through project execution by understanding the system limitation of the assets.

- Provide engineering support for turnarounds, equipment outages and layups. Ensure Integrity/Engineering Scope of Work are completed on schedule and budget and that any deviations are clearly explained, elevated, and approved.

- Provide accountability for engineering issues and ensure resolution by leveraging resources that may include in-house technical staff and/or consultants or contractors.

- Ensure codes, regulations, and company and professional engineering requirements, practices, and standards are adhered to and consistently applied.

- Foster win-win relationships with management teams, functional groups, operations personnel, project team members, key stakeholders and contractors.

- Communicate risks, status, and actions through established reporting methods to ensure management and stakeholders are informed.

What we offer:

- A culture of continuous learning and mentorship from the best in the business (and fun!).

What you bring:

Required

- University degree in mechanical, electrical, or process engineering discipline.

- Professional Engineering designation registered with one of the Canadian provincial associations.

- 4 to 8 years of experience as an engineer within the natural gas processing industry.

- Good knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g. CSA, API, ASME) and familiarity with schematic drawings (P&ID, PFD).

- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

- Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred

- Working knowledge of pipeline standards and industry accepted practices, specifically CSA Z662 design code.

- Experience applying root cause failure analysis (RCFA), hazard analysis, and risk assessment principles.

- Field-based engineering experience.

- Candidates residing in or near Fort St. John, BC.

If this sounds like your next career adventure, we'd love to hear from you!

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $125,000. Final compensation for this position will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate and will be aligned to internal equity.
