Job Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Payable Coordinator leads Accounts Payable processing and support functions as an integral part of the Finance team.
Position Responsibilities
•Supervise the Accounts Payable functions and associated staff
•Review and verify accuracy of submitted invoices and employee expense reports (e.g. billing, taxes, approvals, coding and duplication checks) and identify appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies
•Maintain cloud-based accounts payable system and payment processing in Microsoft Dynamics to ensure proper internal controls are adhered to and allow for efficient processing and high level of accuracy
•Manage vendor relationships, providing a prompt resolution of any vendor related issues
•Monitor vendor set up, including banking information to ensure accurate and timely payments
•Process all payment runs to ensure timeliness and accuracy of payments
•Preparation of PST returns and ability to interpret tax bulletins to identify and self-assess PST on vendor invoices.
•Assist with the month-end close process (e.g. accruals, account reconciliations, journal entries)
•Continually analyze current processes and recommend/implement improvements ensuring a results driven focus
•Maintain secure records of signed reports and vendor information for audit and reference purposes
•Assist in the year-end close process and audit process
•Provide relevant support to internal and external stakeholders
•Train and mentor junior staff within the accounts payable group
•Other ad hoc tasks as required
Skills and Qualifications
•A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance or Accounting is required
•Minimum 5 years of working accounts payable experience in a high volume multi-location environment
•Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience
•Experience in cloud-based accounts payable system is an asset
•Experience in system upgrade and implementation is an asset
•Microsoft Dynamics experience is preferred
•Strong Microsoft Office skills
•Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
•Strong organization and time management skills
•Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
•Ability to work under tight reporting deadlines
•Occasional travel required
