The Accounting Intern is responsible for supporting the daily functions of the accounting department while gaining hands-on experience in financial operations. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team in this entry-level opportunity, ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing a career in accounting or finance. The intern will work closely with our accounting team to assist with routine tasks, contribute to financial processes, and develop a strong foundation in accounting principles.

- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks
- Help prepare and maintain financial records and reports
- Perform data entry and reconcile financial transactions
- Organize and maintain accounting documents and files
- Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned
- Clearly and professionally share updates and information with team members and supervisors.
- Ask questions and seek clarification to ensure accurate understanding of tasks and processes.
- Communicate financial information and findings effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion when discussing or reporting.
- Demonstrate active listening and openness to feedback to support learning and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments, maintaining a courteous and professional tone.
- Provide timely responses to accounting inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure clear, professional, and courteous communication in all interactions
- Assist in preparing financial reports for the board of directors and division managers as requested
- Support the Director of Accounting on special assignments
- Demonstrate responsiveness, reliability, and a service-oriented mindset
- Evaluate training and onboarding processes, observe tasks, and document performance to support learning and development
- Engage in company training sessions to deepen understanding of organizational objectives and accounting processes
- Recognize different learning styles and adapt approaches to effectively support team members during training or collaborative tasks
- Stay current with professional and technical advancements by participating in internal and external workshops, seminars, and reviewing relevant publications
- Complete all mandatory safety and compliance training requirements
- Understand and use the company’s accounting software packages to their full capacity
- Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in daily accounting tasks
- Develop and maintain written job procedures for the position
- Adhere to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report any safety incidents to the supervisor immediately

Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner
that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

- Develop intensive knowledge of accounting practices and related procedures
- Apply judgment in analyzing facts and circumstances surrounding individual transactions or problems
- Determine appropriate actions within the limits of standard accounting practices and company guidelines
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills to support accurate financial processes
- Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and efficient in formulas)
- Preferred experience with PDI Enterprise and Prophix
