Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson Mine is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. We are seeking motivated, safety-focused Maintenance Summer Students to join our underground and/or surface maintenance teams for the 2026 summer term. This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing technical or trades-related careers to gain hands-on experience in an operating mine while working alongside skilled tradespeople and supervisors.

Location: Matachewan, Ontario Employment Type: Full-Time, Summer Term Department: Maintenance Department

Primary Responsibilities:

Support the underground and/or surface maintenance team with daily tasks, including:

- Assisting with inspections, repairs, and servicing of mobile and fixed equipment

- Performing lubrication, cleaning, and basic mechanical tasks

- Completing assigned jobs safely and efficiently under supervision

- Assisting with parts retrieval, organization, and inventory management

- Maintaining clean and organized work areas underground and on surface

- Participating in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and complying with all site safety policies and procedures

- Accurately completing required documentation such as work logs and checklists

- Collaborating with tradespeople, operators, and supervisors to support maintenance operations

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in a college or university program (e.g., Heavy Equipment Technician, Electrician, Welding, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, or related field)

- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Physically fit and able to perform manual work

- Ability to work in underground and/or surface mine conditions (training provided)

- Commitment to working safely at all times

- Must be 18 years of age to work in underground environment

Work Schedule

- Rotating shift schedule, 7 days on, 7 days off OR 4 days on/ 3 days off, depending on department requirements

- Underground or Surface work required

- Must have own transportation to and from mine, no camp available, however, some accommodation can be made on a case-by-case basis

- All required training and PPE provided

The company reserves the right to determine final selection and number of summer students hired. In the event, there are more applicants, than number of positions available, the Company will determine selection, based on previous site experience, good standing with grades and preference for students pursuing or currently enrolled in a course of study that is related to the mining industry.

To be eligible to apply, student must be a minimum of 16 years of age to work on surface and 18 years of age to work in underground operations.
