In this role, you will be responsible for manually removing excess bark and trimming poles or other wood products to length with hand or power tools as well as inspecting for relevant standards. You will act as a Framer to accurately set the “face” of poles based on specifications to identify, measure, and mark poles appropriately. You will also assist with any other physical tasks associated with operations.

Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00AM - 2:00PM with OT as needed, working in an outdoor environment in variable weather conditions.
As a Yard Laborer / Framer, you will:
- Shaving with a draw knife, any areas missed by the mechanical shaver, and problem spots or repairing damaged spots on poles and other products.
- Measuring and marking properly the locations of the gains, holes, tags and other associated parts of poles and other products.
- Measuring ground lines, tops, knots of poles and other products for compliance with ANSI, AWAP, ASTM, REA grading standards.
- Properly identify any defects, limited or prohibited, and apply the proper grading rules per ANSI, AWPA, ASTM, REA standards.
- Drilling the holes with precision and accuracy per the framing instructions of the customers.
- Performing the proper ground-line preparation on poles that require it.
- Install any and all associated markings per the customers’ specifications, including but not limited to; star locks, marking tags, specialty tags, burn brands, balance points.
- Assisting with other duties as assigned by Management.
Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Experience working in saw/pole/lumber mill, industrial operations, and/or in an outdoor environment in variable weather conditions is preferred. Experience operating heavy equipment is an asset.
- Ability to use chain saw and hand tools (including tape measure) or ability to learn.
- Ability to keep accurate records and submit reports.
