Reporting to the Acheson Shops Manager, you will ensure the proper deployment of job resources including ordering parts, assigning personnel work duties within the welding department, and executing a Planning Schedule.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

- Setup and assist with Shop Supervisor at the morning PSI Meeting.

- Do a morning check in with all employees, and assess fit to work.

- Assign work to each employee.

- Check and approve Time Cards for hours worked, work performed, proper Time Card Coding.

- Fill out Requisitions and order parts for jobs and shop consumables.

- Assist Shop Supervisor to prepare Weekly Safety Meeting.

- Review Daily/Weekly work plans and ensure appropriate actions are taken to address KPI performance issues.

- Secure and ensure proper deployment of job resources including ordering parts, requesting personnel, tools and consumables.

- Ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies and procedures.

- Ensure all new hires/transfers receive required orientations. Attend and participate in site specific orientations.

- Conduct work observations and inspections and complete follow-up activities.

- Ensure adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE, is supplied, readily accessible, properly used and maintained.

- Review safe work plans/ hazard assessment with crew prior to job commencement.

- Conduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.

- Ensure the effective use of the work order system.

- Participate in the hiring process for new personnel and the discipline of current personnel as required.

- Coordinate with the Equipment Superintendent to ensure proper training of personnel

- Work with the planning Department to set priorities, and make weekly schedule

- Coach/ Mentor employees

- Work with external Vendors and Clients

- Work with Shop Manager and HR with all disciplinary issues


Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

- Three years’ experience in a heavy equipment shop, which includes a minimum of two years' or more of direct supervisory experience.

- AMSA (Alberta Mining Safety Association) certificate.

- Journeyman welding ticket/ red seal

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Trained in CSTS, WHMIS and Standard First Aid.

- Thorough understanding of all welding functions and procedures.

- Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract

- Be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites

- Urine Drug Test

- Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment

- Audiometric Testing

- Vision Screening

- Criminal Record Check
