JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a skilled Food Grade Fabrication Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fabricating and welding stainless steel components used in food processing equipment and environments. This position requires a high standard of cleanliness, precision, and knowledge of sanitary welding practices in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Fabricate and assemble stainless steel components and equipment according to food-grade specifications.
- Perform high-quality TIG welding, including sanitary and purge welding techniques.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Grind, polish, and finish welds to meet sanitary and cosmetic standards.
- Conduct self-inspections and ensure welds meet quality and regulatory standards.
- Work with engineering and production teams to ensure on-time, accurate fabrication.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and uphold all safety, hygiene, and compliance protocols.
- Document and report fabrication and weld completion according to company processes.- 3+ years of TIG welding experience with stainless steel, especially in sanitary or food-grade applications.
- Proficiency in welding techniques such as orbital and purge welding.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Skilled in grinding and polishing welds to meet hygienic and aesthetic standards.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitary fabrication requirements (e.g., 3-A Sanitary Standards, USDA, FDA).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification in TIG welding (e.g., AWS D18.1, ASME Section IX).
- Experience with ASME BPE standards or other hygienic piping/fabrication standards.
- Familiarity with Clean-in-Place (CIP) and hygienic design principles.
- Prior work experience in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or dairy industry.
- Forklift or crane operation certification.
- Work is performed in a machine shop environment, with regular exposure to welding fumes, heat, and noise.
- Ability to stand, bend, and work with hands for extended periods.
- Shift: First Shift, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Breaks: Includes a 10-minute paid break and a 15-minute paid lunch per shift.
- Pay Range: Up to $30 per hour, depending on experience.
