Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. Senior Underground Mine Technician
Role Summary
The Underground Projects Engineer supports the mining team by overseeing and coordinating underground projects. This role works collaboratively with Technical Services and Mine Operations to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of underground projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
- Support the project approval process by completing economic evaluations and preparing justification documentation.
- Provide conceptual engineering support and evaluate alternative construction approaches.
- Ensure safety, quality, and environmental standards are maintained throughout all phases of construction.
- Prepare and review construction scopes of work, execution plans, and work packages.
- Develop a thorough understanding of project drawings, specifications, schedules, production targets, and applicable procedures.
- Identify design or construction deficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
- Coordinate with Mine Operations, Technical Services, and other departments to ensure effective project execution.
- Ensure scopes of work comply with relevant documents and project requirements.
- Monitor and document daily construction activities, identifying and quantifying any impacts to scope, schedule, or cost resulting from discrepancies.
- Conduct field inspections to assess upcoming work areas and verify project readiness.
- Perform regular site inspections to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with company standards.
- Provide daily project updates during coordination and morning meetings.
- Collaborate with Mine Operations and Technical Services to ensure alignment on project status and priorities.
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mining Engineering or a Mining Technology diploma, or equivalent technical experience.
- PMP certification is considered an asset.
- P.Eng. designation with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or eligibility for membership, is an asset; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in an underground mining environment.
- Proficiency with mine planning software (e.g., Deswik.CAD and Deswik.Sched) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $100,000.00 -$125,000.00
