UG Mine Electrician

As our underground electrician, you will troubleshoot, maintain, and install electrical and instrumentation equipment to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work in a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You'll start every job with safety first by inspecting your workplace, and then installing, repairing, and removing electrical infrastructures. You will be called upon to assist in the planning of electrical and instrumentation jobs, including design, scheduling, and procurement. To thrive in this role, you must have experience working as an electrician and feel comfortable enough with electrical components that you know: not just how to set them up, but how to identify problems and fix them in real-time. We're on a remote island, you must know how to work independently.

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing roughly 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. - Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. We also provide department-level training on not just what to do, but safety, as well.

- Apply your technical aptitude to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation equipment located in surface and underground mineral processing and power generation facilities.

- Working on a remote island and living in a mining camp environment away from home. Every department is slightly different, but our electrical department works 15 days for 12.5 hours each, followed by 13 days off.

- You'll be above and/or below ground doing workplace inspections assigned each morning. Then, we'll rely on you to prioritize your work before you get started.

- Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before we start the day for your safety and the safety of your team.
