Position Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing solar project execution in the field, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design, code, and quality standards. This role requires extensive travel with overnight stays, and serves as the primary field representative, coordinating between subcontractors, clients, project managers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead and manage construction crews and subcontractors onsite.
•Coordinate with the Project Manager to perform thorough preliminary and final site evaluations.
•Conduct weekly Quality Assurance (QA) site visits at each project to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
•Enforce site safety policies and procedures; identify, document, and report safety infractions or concerns directly to the Construction Manager.
•Ensure Foremen complete daily paperwork requirements.
•Collaborate with Project Managers and Construction Manager to make field-level construction decisions and problem-solve issues alongside subcontractors.
•Verify project compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements, and all relevant regulations.
•Serve as an onsite representative for the company to clients, ensuring professionalism and clear communication.
•Investigate and report unforeseen site conditions impacting project scope or schedule.
•Coordinate and validate inspections with local jurisdictions and third-party agencies.
•Support schedule updates by providing field-driven data and feedback on construction progress.
•Attend weekly meetings (pre-cons, check ins, etc.).
•Assist in developing cost estimates, pre-engineering designs, and project budgets as needed.
•Manage material procurement and logistics for assigned projects, including coordination of deliveries and verification of material quality and quantity.
•Track man hours per task each day, update log at end of day.
•Foster strong working relationships with clients and subcontractors through clear, respectful communication.
•Assist the Project Manager in verifying subcontractor milestone completion and preparing progress payment approvals.
•Validate and document all field changes or subcontractor change orders.
•Manage project closeout processes, including assembling warranty documentation, as-built drawings, QA/QC reports, monitoring system setup, and O&M manuals.
•Conduct final system walkthroughs with the owner and close any outstanding punch-list items.
•Assist with permit submittals, printing plan sets, delivering placards, etc. to job sites when needed.
•Conduct weekly safety tailgate meetings, both with internal crews and subcontracted crews.
•Ensure site is safe at the end of each working day.
•Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.
Qualifications:
•5+ years of experience in commercial solar installation, including PV, BESS, EV chargers, and carports.
•Previous leadership experience as a Foreman, Superintendent, Construction Manager, or similar role.
•Strong understanding of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and electrical components.
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
•Proficiency in operating construction equipment and tools.
•Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
•Must be able to climb ladders and work on high roofs.
•Must be able to lift ~70 Lbs.
•Ability to travel throughout California for various project sites.
•Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Compensation & Benefits:
•Competitive salary: $110,000 - $120,000 per year
