Position Overview
Ambrose Solar is seeking an experienced and driven
Solar Service Manager
to oversee the performance, productivity, and culture of our solar service department. This role involves managing a team of technicians and administrative support staff, handling customer service cases, and ensuring our service operations are efficient, professional, and customer-focused. The ideal candidate will have solar experience, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing both people and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead and manage both field service technicians and in-office support staff
•Oversee scheduling, training, and performance evaluations for all service department personnel
•Provide clear direction, mentorship, and accountability for team members to foster a positive and productive work culture
•Monitor solar PV system alerts (outages, performance degradation) and initiate appropriate actions
•Perform or supervise initial remote diagnostics to determine service needs
•Ensure timely ticketing, dispatching, and resolution of customer service issues
•Manage preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, reporting, and customer communication
•Maintain detailed service records and documentation in company systems
•Determine warranty coverage and prepare quotes for non-warranty service work
•Coordinate RMA handling, including tracking, vendor communication, and invoicing
•Track service department KPIs and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
•Serve as the point of escalation for complex service issues or customer concerns
•Collaborate with company leadership on department budgets, staffing needs, and long-term service strategy
Personnel Management Duties:
•Assist with hiring, training, and onboarding new service department employees
•Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-ones, and performance reviews
•Address personnel issues including attendance, productivity, and adherence to company policies
•Foster a safe, respectful, and high-performance work environment in both the field and office
•Coordinate with HR and leadership on employee development, corrective actions, and compliance
Qualifications:
•3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in the solar or electrical trades
•Direct experience in residential and/or commercial solar PV systems
•Knowledge of monitoring platforms a plus
•Strong leadership and team development skills
•Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written
•Comfortable working with technology platforms, ticketing systems, and performance metrics
•Working knowledge of networking and communications equipment is a plus
•Highly organized, detail-oriented, and customer-centric

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
