This position will play a crucial role in enhancing employee skills and promoting a safe and efficient work environment at our sand mining operations. This position not only focuses on delivering effective training programs but also provides essential HR support to ensure the continuous growth and development of our workforce. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in training, compliance, and human resources management in an industrial or mining setting.
· Actively Promote E.R. Jahna’s Core Standards of Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SPQDC).
· Use the well-established Jahna DDS (Daily Directional Setting) Meetings along with the fundamentals of our SPQDC culture to manage all aspects of the daily business.
· Maintain a safe working environment, utilize safe working practices, and ensure all safety notification & reporting processes are in place.
· Provide coaching, motivation, leadership, and support to ensure the development of a high-performance team while managing personnel issues.
· Develop action plans and measures to meet and/or exceed budgeted goals.
· Ability to work with all levels of the workforce (Hourly, Plant, Area, and Senior Management) to achieve organizational goals.
· Work ethically, practice good business judgment, and conform to all state and federal laws as well as follow and enforce all E.R. Jahna’s standards and policies.
· Promote and support E.R. Jahna’s active community business partnerships.
· Design & Implement Training Programs: Develop and manage comprehensive training programs that cover safety protocols, equipment operation, regulatory compliance (MSHA, EPA, etc), environmental standards, and job-specific skills.
· Onboarding & Orientation: Coordinate new hire orientation and ensure that all employees undergo required site-specific training upon joining the organization.
· Safety and Compliance Training: Ensure all training materials are updated regularly to meet MSHA standards. Conduct safety drills and simulations to enhance employee readiness.
· Skill Development: Identify skill gaps within teams and create targeted training initiatives to improve performance, productivity, and job satisfaction.
· Evaluation: Monitor the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Make recommendations for continuous improvement.
· Training Records: Maintain accurate records of employee training, certifications, and compliance statuses.
· Employee Development Plans: Work closely with Managers and HR to create individualized development plans, ensuring that employees are on track for career growth and skill enhancement.
· Performance Reviews: Support the performance management process by assisting in the creation of training objectives linked to performance reviews and employee career progression.
· HR Documentation: Maintain HR files for all employees, ensuring that training and certification records are up-to-date and easily accessible.
· Employee Engagement: Promote employee engagement initiatives by organizing workshops, team-building activities, and career development sessions that align with company values and goals.
· Compliance & Reporting: Assist HR in ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies. Provide reports on employee training status, certifications, and regulatory adherence.
· Internal Communication: Collaborate with HR to communicate training schedules, policy updates, and employee development opportunities across all mine sites
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Industrial Safety, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
· 3+ years of experience in training, development, or human resources, with a preference for experience in the mining, construction, or heavy industry sectors.
· Strong knowledge of MSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and regulatory standards.
· Experience in creating training materials and conducting group sessions (classroom, hands-on, or virtual).
· Proficient with HR management systems (HRMS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
· Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
· Strong analytical skills to assess training needs and track employee progress.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
· Demonstrated leadership and management abilities to manage and motivate employees.
· Must be organized, dedicated, and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Must be able to work productively as part of a team.
· Ability to interpret data, perform detailed analyses, and present findings and conclusions to senior management.
· MSHA Certified Instructor or the willingness to obtain certification.
· Experience in HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
· Experience with mobile equipment training or hazardous materials handling is a plus.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Primarily on-site at the mining facility, with frequent travel between all locations, including occasional overnight and out-of-state.
Regular exposure to outdoor or industrial environments, including active mining sites.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, to accommodate shift workers and site schedules.
This position will work with and report to the HR Manager.
