Matalco Inc. operates a manufacturing facility in Brampton, Ontario which produces 6000 series extrusion grade aluminum billet/log. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Production Operator.

The Mold Technician will have knowledge of multiple job functions within the Casting department and will support operations in all casting operation functions as needed to maintain efficient, high quality, safe operations. .
1.Build, maintain and apply knowledge of all critical casting processes, defects and root causes in order to support production processes, fill in on shift as necessary for PTO coverage, training, troubleshooting, minimize downtime or other objectives as needed
2.Tests and monitors water daily; adjusts the water chemistry as needed according to company standards in order to produce a finished product free of defects
3.Maintain spare mold inventory and recipe revisions; perform PM’s and refractory maintenance according to department expectations in order to produce a finished product free of defects
4.Work with and learn from appropriate vendors, according to industry standards to improve product quality, efficiency or operator safety
5.Report and respond when appropriate to deviations, out of service or non-conforming equipment based on departmental procedure in order for the management team to make corrections or adjustments to processes appropriately
6.Apply and provide accountability of all safety rules, participation in safety practices, including LOTO and wearing of PPE according to company standards in order to facility a safe working environment. Assist management with communication and compliance of company strategic initiatives
- Operate fork lift with regular frequency. Low frequent pushing of metal along the transfer trough. Low frequent cleaning of trough and Snif. High frequency of visual monitoring of casting processes. Frequent operation of overhead crane. Frequent climbing over 4 feet. Frequent use of raised maintenance platform over 4 feet. Low frequency of confined space entry.
- Experience with CNC programming and operation of CNC lathes and milling machines.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot machining issues effectively.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, assembly, and welding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematics and blueprints.
- Strong mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations.

QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below represent the minimum requirements for this position. Additional experience/qualifications will be preferred.
· Previous experience operating a front end loader, overhead crane, and counterbalance forklift is required;
· Previous foundry, hot metal, furnace and alloying experience will be considered an asset;
· Proven ability to demonstrate good communication skills (verbal/written) with a positive attitude;
· Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is preferred but not required.
