Cordia Harrisburg has served downtown Harrisburg as the city’s provider of choice for reliable and efficient district energy services for decades. The system’s facilities, owned and operated by Cordia, provide district heating and cooling to more than 112 customers in downtown Harrisburg — including the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Capitol Complex and Harrisburg municipal government facilities. Through an affiliate, Energy Center Paxton LLC, also provides 12 MW of electricity to the local power grid. Customers use the steam generated by Cordia Harrisburg for space heating, domestic hot water heating, humidification, industrial processes, and the chilled water for cooling. Cordia Harrisburg’s power generation component is interconnected with the PJM grid. In addition, the system’s staff repairs and maintains customer steam equipment.

Job Summary

The Instrument and Controls Technician IV reports to the Maintenance Manager. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all plant Instruments, controls, and electrical equipment in the Steam, Paxton Generation, and Harrisburg Cooling facilities.

Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas

- Calibrate and repair all pneumatic and electronic pressure, temperature, and flow transmitters, instruments, controls, and DCS systems.

- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.

- Assist as necessary any electrical work in the three facilities.

- Ability to develop Process & Instrument Designs (P&ID) for multiple processes and specifications of instruments and database sheets.

- Produce, maintain, and manage all calibration and repair records in the I&C and electrical Department in accordance with all Federal, State, Local, Environmental, Corporate, and Insurance requirements.

- Work with and select vendors for various instruments and control systems.

- Troubleshoot electrical wiring, motors, VFDS, and other low and medium voltage electrical equiment.

- Assist the Lead I&C Technician with all tasks as necessary.

- Participate in all plant staff meetings, safety meetings, training and other programs as necessary.

- Mentor employees to improve their knowledge, skills, and effectiveness.

- Represent the company to the public and to our customers.

- Comply with all Energy Center Harrisburg’s Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.

- Support Operations Department, Distribution, and other Maintenance Department employees as necessary.

Requirements

Experience & Education Requirements

- High School diploma or equivalent.

- Two year Electrical/Electronic technology degree or five years of documented experience in the field.

- Valid PA driver's license.

Knowledge & Skills

- Knowledge in reading electrical, electronic, and piping schematics and technical instructions.

- Ability to work in adverse climate conditions, including working in confined spaces and heights.

- Ability to write notifications work orders in the plant CMMS system.

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
