Blue Coast Research Ltd. (BCR) is a leading metallurgical consultancy and testwork laboratory located in Parksville, British Columbia. BCR is focused on providing high quality metallurgical testwork, data and interpretation to the global minerals industry.

To support our best-in-class metallurgical laboratory, BCR is expanding our Analytical capabilities and is hiring a Technician 1 – Analytical Laboratory to join our team.

Overview

The Technician 1 – Analytical Laboratory will be required to perform routine and non-routine precious and base metal analysis of flotation, gravity and leach products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Technician 1 – Analytical Laboratory will:

- Be a visible health and safety leader, with a focus on providing a safe and respectful environment for Blue Coast employees, clients, and contractors.

- Conduct fire assay analysis including weigh ups, fluxing, fusions, cupelling, and parting work.

- Complete wet chemistry weigh ups, digestions, leaches, and peroxide fusions.

- Operate and maintain ICP-OES and report analysis.

- Operate and maintain Combustion IR (ELTRA) Carbon and Sulfur analysis Complete other duties as assigned.

- Maintain hot plates, acid scrubbers, dust filtration units and other laboratory equipment.

- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

The Technician 1 - Analytical should have:

- Diploma in Chemical Technology, or Chemical Engineering

- Proficiency with MS Office computer programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

- Excellent report writing and communication skills (English language).

- Ability to work in a fast paced environment

- Ability to wear a respirator

- Ability to lift 20 kg

It would be considered an asset, but is not required to have:

- A bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field

This position will be based at the Blue Coast Research facilities in Parksville, BC.
