MSALABS is an experienced global provider of geochemical laboratory services to the exploration and mining industries in Canada, the USA and around the world. We have a rapidly growing network of laboratories in key mining regions around the world to limit lead times and transit costs and we employ the latest hi-tech analysis equipment.
This position will be located at our head office in Langley, BC. We are looking for a dedicated and detail orientated self-starter who has the following skills and experience:
- Perform weighing and wet chemistry tasks in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and recognized reference methods.
- Responsible for Wet Chemistry digestion parameters.
- Weighing, preparing samples and/or jars and performing routine analysis while maintaining adequate production, quality control and turnaround times.
- Perform general laboratory tasks including, but not limited to washing vessels, glassware and other laboratory apparatus, bulking up and transferring solutions.
- Monitor quality control results and report any deviations to the Laboratory Supervisor or designated person.
- Perform scheduled verification (intermediate checks) of critical equipment (weight, volume, temperature, calibration standards as applicable). Prepare chemical solutions as described in the relevant SOPs and has a clear understanding of pass/fail criteria.
- Fill in the appropriate forms/logs/records. Recording of equipment performance, general maintenance of lab equipment and problems encountered in maintenance logbook and in accordance with the ISO17025 requirements.
- Assist with all quality and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) incident investigations.
- Assist with prepping and weighing samples for ensuring a minimum of target samples are processed per shift.
- Maintain accurate records of sample preparation and quality control results.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols, including lead control measures.
- Act in a safe and professional manner, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing good housekeeping.
- Report any unsafe conditions or nonconforming events related to customer samples to the Laboratory Supervisor or designated person.
- Report any deviation from documented procedures to the Laboratory Supervisor or designated person.
- Monitoring the performance and maintenance of the instruments.
- Assist in coordinating sample movement between different laboratory areas.
- Understand and troubleshoot the analyses and provide input to corrective action procedures.
- Provide technical support and training to other staff employed in the section from time
- 1-2 years’ experience in the relevant field at a commercial laboratory or equivalent
- Technical Diploma or higher in Chemistry or a scientific discipline.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Detail orientated and ability to work very well under pressure.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
