We are seeking a motivated individual with a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license to join our team as a Technical Trainer. The ideal candidate will have three or more years of technical experience, preferably in construction or power equipment service and repair, with additional consideration given to those with experience maintaining equipment at mine sites. MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) certification is a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft applications are beneficial to this role. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, scheduling, and delivering training sessions that meet the needs of the service department and align with Caterpillar training standards. Candidates must be willing to obtain CIAP (Caterpillar Instructor Accreditation Program) certification within one year of hire and be open to travel between the six Stowers locations, as well as to Peoria, IL, or other Caterpillar Regional Learning Centers as needed. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential. A valid driver’s license is required, and employment is contingent upon passing a background check, physical exam, and drug screening.
Deliver training sessions for service technicians and trainees
Maintain accurate training records for all service personnel within Stowers Learning Center and hard files
Assist with the selection and mentoring of trainees
Prepare and distribute materials for the New Product Introduction (NPI) program
Provide technical support to technicians, including troubleshooting equipment issues
Collaborate with the Technical Communicator to ensure up-to-date service knowledge
Attend required training classes to remain current on industry developments and Caterpillar standards, totaling a minimum of 80 hours annually. Also, must attend department meetings regularly and one Caterpillar/Dealer conference every three years per CIAP accreditation standards.
Manage and update courses and training schedules within Stowers Learning Center
Represent the company by serving on local technical training program advisory boards and participating as a judge in SkillsUSA regional and state competitions.
