About This Job

Musselwhite Mine

Orla Mining is striving to be the emerging gold producer of choice with a geographically diversified asset base, a prospective development and exploration portfolio, an experienced management team with a successful track record, and a high-quality board and shareholder base.

Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources.  We are also advancing permitting and development on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada. This project is part our larger South Carlin Complex which includes a prospective land package. We recently acquired the Musselwhite Mine located in Northern Ontario on Lake Opapimiskan, a gold mine with more than 25 years of operating history. The addition of Musselwhite has allowed Orla to more than double our gold production and provide a strategic entry into a Tier 1 mining jurisdiction. The Musselwhite Mine is highly prospective with potential to expand resources and mine life for years to come.

Orla is building a legacy of excellence, respect and sustainable value through responsible gold mining. We are striving to create a net positive benefit for all and leaving a legacy beyond the life of our mines. We do this through building and operating high quality mines supported and led by an experienced team. We are custodians of the assets we run and the environments in which we operate, and we are committed to fostering a culture of excellence, care, and respect.

Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Technical Training and Emergency Services Superintendent to lead and integrate all aspects of technical training, competency assurance, onboarding/induction, document control, and emergency response across underground, surface, and processing operations.

This role is responsible for ensuring that all workers, contractors, and visitors are trained, competent, and prepared to safely perform work, while maintaining a high-performing emergency response capability aligned with site risks.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with operations, health and safety, and leadership teams to ensure training programs reflect operational requirements, evolving hazards, and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team consisting of Training Supervisors, Trainers (Underground and Surface/Mill), Emergency Response Advisors, and Document Control

- Own and continuously improve the site Training Management System, competency framework, and training standards

- Ensure compliance with Ontario Common Core, specialty modules, and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements

- Oversee onboarding and induction programs for employees, contractors, and visitors

- Collaborate with operations and health and safety teams to align training with site priorities and risk profile

- Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors on competency verification and worker development

- Align procedures, training materials, and document control systems with operational and regulatory changes

- Lead internal and external audits related to training, competency, and emergency response readiness

- Oversee all aspects of emergency response programs, including mine rescue and surface emergency response teams

- Ensure emergency response training is practical, scenario-based, and reflective of site-specific hazards

- Support incident investigations by identifying training gaps and contributing to corrective actions

- Provide oversight and governance of specialized site programs requiring coordination across departments

- Ensure training, competency, and emergency preparedness considerations are integrated into higher-risk site activities, including remote access logistics, aviation interfaces, and seasonal operating conditions

- Support planning and risk mitigation strategies for site logistics and transportation activities by ensuring personnel are trained, competent, and aligned with emergency response requirements

- Signing Authority for ministry modules at Musselwhite mine

Requirements:

- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in underground mining, with exposure to operations, training, health and safety and emergency services

- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training programs in a mining environment

- Strong working knowledge of Ontario Common Core, underground and surface hazards, and regulatory requirements

- Supervisor Common Core certification (required)

- Experience supporting or leading emergency response teams, mine rescue, or industrial firefighting programs

- Ontario Mine Rescue Management certification or equivalent is considered an asset

- Proven ability to lead teams and influence across departments

- Experience with workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations is considered an asset

- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

- Post-secondary education or certifications in Occupational Health and Safety or related fields is considered an asset

What Success Looks Like:

- A workforce with verified, competency-based training that reflects actual job demands

- Training programs that are practical, field-driven, and aligned with operational realities

- Strong collaboration between training, safety, and operations teams

- Supervisors actively engaged in developing and verifying worker competency

- Audit-ready training systems and document control processes

- A competent, well-trained emergency response team capable of responding effectively to site incidents

Working Conditions:

- The Musselwhite Mine is a fly-in-fly-out operation. The schedule for this position will consist of 7 days on and 7 days off, working 12 hours per day.

Compensation:

- The base salary range for this position is CAD$138,000 – $154,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.

- This role is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual short term incentive program. The target annual bonus for this position is 25% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance.

- The Company offers a Defined Contribution Pension Plan (DCPP), including an automatic 5% employer contribution, with the option for employees to receive up to an additional 4% employer match on employee contributions.
