Support Engineer
Detroit Thermal seeks a confident, practical Engineer to assist with planning complex steam distribution maintenance projects from initial concept to delivery and operation. Fast-tracked progression to Distribution Planner with excellent, hands-on internal training.
Roles and Responsibilities
•Develop a working knowledge of the steam distribution system with an emphasis on understanding the steam flows and operation.
•Develop an understanding of the steam distribution maintenance requirements, practices, and safety procedures.
•Work closely with the distribution supervisor on daily maintenance of the steam distribution system, emphasizing safety and reliability.
•Interface with and develop rapport and positive relationships with Steam customers, co-workers, contractors, suppliers, and management.
•Manage and help prepare Project Budgets and Cost Control.
•Manage daily permit notifications.
•Review field reports for accuracy and tracking.
•Assists management with documentation and coordination of field activities and capital projects.
•Assists with documenting changes, and maintains project records, red line transfers, and correspondence.
•Assists in accomplishing engineering projects in support of the distribution department.
•Conducts data collection and project reporting.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
•A bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
•3-5 years of experience in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or related construction experience.
•3-5 years of experience in construction, piping systems, or HVAC EXPERIENCE.
•Some experience with AutoCAD software. Proficient in Microsoft Suite programs.
•Background as a project manager/project engineer/project designer with a small to mid-sized consulting/engineering firm preferred.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills; proven experience with client/contractor management; ability to mitigate issues as they arise and develop win-win solutions.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
