In this pivotal role, you will lead the planning and coordination of daily operations to uphold the integrity of LCRA's extensive Telecommunications Network. This network encompasses cutting-edge technologies such as DWDM, SONET, MPLS, Mobile Radio (LMR), and Private LTE, spread across a vast fiber and microwave radio infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, adept at balancing meticulous planning with adaptability and a strong focus on safety protocols. - Provide leadership and direction to staff. Hire, train, assign work, evaluate and manage performance, determine compensation of subordinate staff in compliance with human resources policies and handles all aspects of staff supervision. Maintain awareness of department issues and responds to employee needs and concerns. Communicate with employees to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information.
- Lead staff in the installation, testing and maintenance of equipment within assigned areas. Develop test procedures for equipment within assigned areas. Coordinate installation and maintenance of field equipment with others. Lead staff in performing final test, verifying proper operation and releasing equipment for service.
- Advise on equipment requirements within assigned areas. Develop cost estimates and monitors expenditures for new equipment.
- Plan and lead staff in planning assignments to assure material and resources availability, cost effectiveness and efficient use of personnel.
- Ensure staff maintain safety and environmental compliance in the performance of all assigned duties. Attend and ensure staff attend monthly safety meetings.
- Five or more years of experience in electronics, telecommunications maintenance, or other relevant experience.
- A degree(s) in electronics technology, telecommunications technology or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver's license
- Experience in telecommunications technologies such as fiber optics, microwave radio, DWDM, LTE, packet routing and switching.
- Knowledge of safety principles and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
