Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. Located in South America, Suriname was originally settled as a Dutch colony, is very culturally diverse and enjoys a tropical climate. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Supervise asset management activities to ensure optimal performance and compliance with standards.
- Assist in development of plans and budgets for Asset Management
- Co-ordinates Asset Management programs
- Ensure compliance with Management systems that facilitate safe and efficient operations in alignment with Newmont vision & values
- Assist with resolving asset management priorities in conformance with short-term and long-term production goals.
- Assist with cost control
- Assess data to apply asset utilization and cost-effectiveness
- Provide reports on asset running performance to senior management
- Ensure QA/QC and continuous improvement initiatives are delivered
- Ensure team members are compliant with systems and processes
- Responsible for assessing relevant risks, executing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for risks
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Trade qualification or experience in related field.
- Several years of experience in project management, resource allocation, risk mitigation, health and safety protocols and industry standards.
- Competent ability to interact, influence and resolve conflict with various stakeholders. competent experience in leading and developing teams.
- Completion of a certified program of competence as a Millwright or Mechanical Tradesperson. Machinist, Welding to the equivalent of AWS or CWB welding certification.
- Working knowledge of mining auxiliary equipment maintenance and including but not limited to, Cat, John Deere, pumping equipment HDPE pipe work.
- Minimum Trade Diploma - Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Diesel Mechanic
- Minimum 5 years extensive experience working on earthmoving equipment in an Open Cast Mining Environment
- Maintenance Planning experience will be an added advantage
- Proven experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, e.g., SAP R3, JDE, Accpac, Sage
- Valid driver’s license
