About The Department
The Operational Performance Training and Integration (OAT) Department supports the System Operations and Market Administration business units through change management and continual process improvement. Our work includes bespoke software tool development, software testing, data analysis, training, and strategic planning—all designed to improve efficiency and reliability across the organization.
What You’ll Be Working On
- As an Operations Process Automation Developer Intern, you will:
- Review existing software and processes used by System Operations and Market Administration teams to identify areas for improvement.
- Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain bespoke software solutions.
- Perform occasional data analysis to support departmental decision-making.
- Collaborate with OAT staff and SOMA business teams to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
How You’ll Make an Impact
This internship will give you hands-on experience in applying software development and data analysis skills to real-world problems that directly support ISO New England’s mission. You’ll gain exposure to the electricity industry, from operational processes to market administration, while learning how automation and technology drive efficiency. By contributing fresh perspectives and technical expertise, you’ll help improve workflows, tools, and decision-making processes across the organization.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with relational databases and application development.
- Highly preferred: Familiarity with multiple programming languages, such as R, Python, MATLAB, VBA, SQL, and C#.
