Pason is seeking a Software Developer Intern in our Research team for a 16-month internship from May 2026 until August 2027. You will use your strong programming skills to deliver data science-based software applications. Your responsibilities will include developing front and back-end components of prototype applications to be hosted on our experimental website called “Pason Labs”. You will work with a talented group of algorithm and control system designers in an applied research setting.
This is an opportunity to learn how data science works in a real-world industrial application.
- Design algorithms which clean, aggregate, and analyze data from industrial process sensors for the purposes of performance analysis, event detection, and process optimization.
- Prototype new data analytics widgets and deploy them for customer trials in our beta website called “Pason Labs”
- Participate in all aspects of the Agile software development and delivery processes, including defining requirements, system design, estimating, code reviews, unit tests, documentation, testing, deployment automation and monitoring tools
- Develop software for complex frontend and backend applications utilizing the DataHub technology stack which includes ReactJS, Javascript, Java, Python
- Work with cool technology trends like Amazon Web Services and SpringBoot to help jumpstart your career
- Participate in team technical discussions, research paper reviews, and propose novel ideas to solve challenging engineering problems.
- Present product prototypes to sales, engineering, and/or management teams.
- Experience with Front End Technologies like ReactJS, Javascript and Redux
- Experience with one OO language like Java, C#, C++, or Python- Experience with web-based technologies and frameworks
- Experience using SQL and relational databases
- Experience with Linux OS
- Strong aptitude for data analysis and visualization
- Strong passion for software development
- This position allows the opportunity for an employee to work in a hybrid environment where a portion of their role is in the office and the other portion remote.
- Currently enrolled in 3rd year studies in Electrical, Computer, Software or Geomatics Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
- Completion of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
