Department Description
The Architecture team at ISO New England plays a pivotal role in aligning technology solutions with business needs and managing the repositories of information that describe the ISO's IT ecosystem. The key part of this work includes overseeing data entry and data quality in the configuration management database (CMDB) - a critical tool for IT operations and change management. The team ensures data accuracy, consistency, and availability for many objects within the CMDB.
About the Internship
This internship will focus on improving the quality, consistency, and efficiency of CMDB data entry, updates, and reviews through workflows and automation. Currently, the CMDB tool lacks strict enforcement of data formats and relationships, which makes it challenging to maintain integrity across the system. The intern will help address these challenges by designing and implementing improvements that reduce manual effort, streamline processes, and enhance user experience.
What You’ll be Working On
- Analyze current CMDB data entry and update processes, identifying areas for improvement.
- Develop workflows and automation tools using Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, or similar platforms to enforce data consistency.
- Create scripts and queries in Python, Java, and post grey SQL to manipulate and standardize data.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand their needs and translate requirements into practical solutions.
- Improved reporting and analysis capabilities through Excel and database queries.
- Enhanced user experience is creating intuitive and efficient processes.

- Familiar with Python or Java, and experience querying PostgreSQL databases.
- Strong skills and Excel and data manipulation for standardization.
- Experience or interest in learning workflow automation tools such as Microsoft Forms and Power Automate.
- High attention to detail with strong focus on accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- A passion for improving user experience and process efficiency.
- Hands-on experience in data management, workflow automation, and user-centric design.
- Exposure to enterprise IT operations and architecture.
- Experience with stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements.
