FABCO is a full‑service steel fabricator, looking for a skilled Structural Steel Superintendent to join our fast‑growing team in Woodburn, Oregon. Our state‑of‑the‑art facility, combined with our highly trained field crews and advanced technological capabilities, allows us to execute a wide range of projects from small installations to complex structural builds.
The Steel Fabrication Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of structural steel fabrication and erection activities in both the shop and the field. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved shop drawings, erection plans, project schedules, and quality standards. Working under the direction of the Project Manager, the Superintendent provides field leadership, coordinates manpower and resources, enforces safety requirements, and ensures compliance with applicable codes and specifications.
- Supervise daily structural steel fabrication and erection operations in the shop and field.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to support project schedules and sequencing.
- Verify work is performed in accordance with approved shop drawings, erection plans, and project specifications.
- Assist as needed with steel erection, fitting, welding, bolting, and field repairs.
- Ensure fabrication, welding, bolting, and erection activities meet AISC, AWS, and project specific requirements.
- Verify welders are working within approved WPS and qualification requirements.
- Assist with inspections and special inspections as required.
- Identify nonconforming work and support corrective action efforts.
- Enforce all company, site-specific, and OSHA safety requirements.
- Promote safe work practices and immediately address unsafe conditions.
- Report incidents, safety issues, and corrective actions to the Project Manager.
- Communicate daily progress, manpower levels, material needs, and schedule impacts to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate work activities with other trades, inspectors, and site personnel.
- Provide field input and support for RFIs when required.
- Troubleshoot field issues and provide practical solutions to maintain productivity and progress.
- Maintain daily reports including manpower, work completed, and safety items.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Represent the company professionally at all times and work collaboratively as part of the project team. professionally
- Experience in structural steel fabrication and erection, including field supervision required.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and shop drawings.
- Working knowledge of AISC, AWS, and OSHA regulations and standards.
- Strong field leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project management, inspectors, crews, and subcontractors.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work safely in shop and field environments.
