POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Staff Accountant to provide insight into operations and increase department accuracy and efficiency. The successful Staff Accountant is responsible for managing and performing certain accounting functions, adjusting the general ledgers, preparing financial statements, and preparing tax returns for various divisions of Campbell Oil Company. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Financial Recordkeeping:

- Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.

- Reconcile bank statements and various accounts to ensure accuracy.

- Financial Reporting:

- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Generate financial reports for management review, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.

- Account Reconciliation:

- Reconcile and analyze accounts to identify discrepancies and variances.

- Resolve discrepancies by investigating and correcting errors as necessary.

- Budgeting and Forecasting:

- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing financial data and analysis.

- Collaborate with department managers to gather budget input and track budget performance.

- Audit Support:

- Prepare audit schedules and assist external auditors during financial audits.

- Address audit inquiries and provide documentation as required.

- Expense Management:

- Monitor and analyze expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities.

- Review and process employee expense reports.

- Compliance and Regulations:

- Stay up to date with accounting standards and regulations.

- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as applicable.

- Special Projects:

- Participate in ad-hoc financial projects as assigned by the Accounting Director or Controller.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus).

- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.

- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel utilizing VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis

- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.

- 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred

- Analytical, detail-oriented, and interpersonal skills, strong understanding of accounting, finance and management principles

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficiency with computers. Experience with other financial systems.
