A JAB Recruitment client is seeking for a temp/contract Staff Accountant in Houston, TX. It is for a 4-6 month duration, there is possibility to convert to full-time; however, it is not guaranteed.
- Schedule: 8AM to 5PM
- Only accepting local candidates for this position.
- Training on-site Monday-Friday for the first month and then move to a hybrid schedule once able to work independently.
- Looking for candidates with at least 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Experience with journal entries and following up queries
- Previous intercompany accounting experience
The Staff Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure compliance with appropriate accounting control procedures, in line with the company and local accounting requirements. - Prepare and process all relevant journals with appropriate supporting information
- Maintain Balance Sheet Reconciliations in line with corporate requirements
- Follow up on corrections and clearing of any required balance sheet reconciling items within appropriate timelines
- Validating Subledger Reports ie RNV, Sales Orders & Purchase Orders
- Carry out monthly close procedures and work under tight deadlines
- Preparation of financial information and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
- Provide Operations with all financial information and analysis to support management decisions.
- Support any required ad-hoc requests and cost analysis
- Contribute to any specific function projects
- Organize and preparation of monthly, quarterly, yearly financials that meet the reporting requirements in terms of quality of accounting, deadlines and documentation of controls.
- Good understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Assist with organizing and preparation of information as required for statutory and tax audits in respective countries.
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls (SOX).
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Advantageous, but not essential: CPA
- Must have at least 4-5 years general accounting experience in commerce.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX reporting.
- Previous multinational company working experience.
- Previous experience with automation and process improvement initiatives.
