Job Description

The Corporate Development team is responsible for identifying, assessing, and executing business‑enhancing transactions — including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic investments involving mining assets and related infrastructure.

This role manages cross‑functional workflows, evaluates potential transactions, and provides recommendations that shape Kinross’ corporate strategy. The position may be hired at either the

Senior Manager

or

Director

level, depending on the candidate’s experience, scope of capabilities, and leadership background.

Job Responsibilities

- Use financial, technical, and general industry knowledge in the identification, assessment, and selection of potential corporate development opportunities;

- Provide technical leadership and demonstrate advanced or expert level knowledge in fundamental corporate development skills including financial modeling, valuation methods, transaction processes and execution

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and consider the business impact of decisions on diverse groups; influence others to achieve project goals, often without direct authority

- Lead technical and financial due diligence processes for the evaluation of potential transactions; define project goals, manage resources, delegate tasks, and minimize risks

- Prepare summary evaluation materials based on due diligence; combine cross-functional findings to support transaction recommendations

- Manage transaction negotiations cross-functionally, and lead transaction closings

- Guide senior management on matters related to corporate development, including finance, tax, treasury, and government relations matters that have implications for corporate strategy;

- Assist with the preparation of corporate strategy; participate in business and project planning by offering technical and cross-functional expertise

- Ensure that all projects are integrated with other business activities and that regional and functional interests are represented; ensure that redundancies across projects are minimized

- Act as an advisor to management and colleagues throughout the organization for financial modeling

- Assist the CEO and Investor Relations with marketing presentations and technical / financial forecast to guide analysts and investors

- Assist the CFO and Finance, Tax, and Treasury teams with cash flow projections, liquidity analysis, and other ad hoc requests

- Assist the Government Relations team on matters outside of M&A including government fiscal negotiations

- Liaise with investment bankers, analysts, and market specialists to keep abreast of developments in the mining industry and potential opportunities; including attending relevant conferences and industry events

- Manage department organizational matters, review department processes, and make related recommendations;

- Identify the need for and develop department standards, procedures, and policies and ensure compliance with industry and professional regulations

- Ensure corporate development procedures are in compliance with SOX

- Review best practices and the competitive landscape and recommend continuous improvement efforts in corporate development

- Act as a change agent for areas related to corporate development, including assessing readiness to engage in change efforts; and designing and implementing change strategies

- Influence leaders and key stakeholders to buy into change efforts that will result in a sustained competitive advantage


Qualifications (Shared Across Both Levels)

Education

- University degree in Engineering, Geology, Finance, or a related discipline.

- MBA, CFA, MSc, MEng, or Accounting designation is considered an asset.


Experience (Minimum Requirements)

- Relevant experience in corporate development, investment banking, strategy, or related experience.

- High proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.

- Experience preparing senior‑executive or board‑level presentations.

- Strong understanding of transaction processes and project management.

- Advanced negotiation skills.

- Mining industry experience is an asset.

Differentiating Experience Requirements By Level

Senior Manager

- Typically ~5 years of experience, including exposure to financial modeling, due diligence, transaction evaluation, and cross‑functional coordination.

- 1–2 years of leadership experience (e.g., leading workstreams, mentoring analysts).

- Strong technical contributor with emerging strategic leadership capability.


Director

- Typically ~7 years of experience across corporate development, investment banking, strategy, or major capital project environments.

- 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams and complex transactions.

- Demonstrated ability to lead high‑stakes negotiations and influence senior executives.

- Proven track record representing organizations externally with key stakeholders.


Skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- In-depth understanding of transaction processes and project management

- Experience supervising or mentoring technical employees

- Experience leading projects of varying scope and complexity

- Previous experience in the mining industry

- Ability to learn quickly

Compensation & Total Rewards

The Base Salary Range For The Senior Manager, Corporate Development is $160,000 to $190,000 CAD + Short Term Incentive Bonus + Long Term Incentive Bonus + Group Benefit coverage

Director, Corporate Development is $200,000 + CAD + Short Term Incentive Bonus + Long Term Incentive Bonus + Group Benefit coverage

The hiring range reflects our targeted compensation framework for the role. The actual offer will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate’s experience, capabilities, and potential impact, along with consideration of internal equity, team structure, and benchmark market data for similar positions.
