Sr Manager, Commercial Trade Support
Overview:
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing commercial operations and ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams. The position manages a team of Trade Analysts and ensures that all trading activities and commercial processes adhere to internal controls, compliance standards, and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:•Oversee adherence to trading mandates and risk management policies, including position tracking, trade validation, and P&L accuracy.
•Lead and develop a team of analysts, providing coaching, performance evaluation, and strategic direction.
•Identify and implement process improvements to drive operational synergies across commercial, operations, finance, and technology functions.
•Coordinate compliance activities and support internal/external audits for control frameworks such as SOX.
•Manage onboarding for new business activities, defining scope, tracking project metrics, and aligning deliverables with commercial objectives.
•Build commercial models to support new business evaluation and integration.
•Deliver management reporting including executive memos, business reviews, and variance analyses.
•Support budget planning and challenge commercial assumptions underlying forecasted performance.
•Ensure consistent compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and risk frameworks within the trading function.
•Validate and support accurate daily/monthly P&L reporting provided by middle-office functions.
•Develop reporting tools and KPIs to monitor team performance and trading activity.
•Model leadership behaviors that promote accountability, collaboration, and customer-centric service.
•Provide analytical support and perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (required)
•MBA or equivalent experience (preferred)
•7+ years of experience in commodities or energy trading, commercial operations, or related industry
•5+ years in a leadership or management role
•Right Angle subject matter expert (ETRM)
•Strong understanding of commodity markets, including physical and financial products
•Familiarity with hedging strategies, market risk, and trading desk support
•Proficient in trade lifecycle management and cross-functional collaboration
•Experience with analytics, business process improvement, and reporting
•Proficient with Microsoft Office; strong Excel and reporting tool capabilities
•Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and lead a diverse team
•Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
•Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments managing multiple priorities
•Strong sense of integrity, discretion, and accountability in handling sensitive information
