The sr. instrument and electrical technician position is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of all monitoring, controlling and indicating devices in the plant, as well as switching and maintaining plant high voltage switchgear and equipment and the distributed control systems. Maintains a detailed record of how loops are configured and interact with field equipment and the total control scheme of the plant. They are expected to respond to callouts and work overtime when needed to support the operation of the plant.
Responsible for the programming, configuring, troubleshooting and maintenance of the Distributed Control Systems, Turbine Control System and other programmable logic control systems in the plant. (50%) Responsible for the installation, calibration, repairs and preventative maintenance of all field devices such as pressure gauges and transmitters, temperature elements and indicators, flow elements, indicators and transmitters, water and steam quality monitors, level indicating devices and switches. (15%) Troubleshoots, calibrates and maintains electo-pneumatic converters, control valves, governor actuators and position indicator to ensure trouble free plant operation. (10%) Inspects, calibrates and maintains the plant Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS). Records and maintains data as required to comply with environmental permit conditions. (10%) Makes updates to diagrams, drawings, calibration sheets and other documents when changes and/or modifications are made. Assists in training associate I& E technicians(5%) Provide technical leadership to staff (5%) Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning (5%) Responsible for adhering to and supporting all company safety and environmental rules, policies and procedures. (5%) Responsible for the completion of special tasks and projects assigned by the maintenance manager or general manager. (5%) Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
Associate's or technical degree; Journeyman Level Apprenticeship Program and two years experience as a journey technician or five years journeyman level experience at a power production, refinery, waste treatment or manufacturing facility. Four years of experience with distributed control systems, Delta V or Foxboro preferred. Experience with programmable logic control (PLC). Knowledge and experience with personal computer software applications, including spreadsheet, word processing and database. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts including percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Effective oral and written communication skills. Must have a valid United States driver's license.
