The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for planning, studying, and collecting data to determine revenue to be recognized under ASC606, as well as the main cost drivers of business activity, such as inventory and labor. This role will analyze data to ensure accurate financial reporting and optimal cost control.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
- Prepare & maintain schedules for revenue reporting under ASC606.
- Responsible for Journal Entries booking and perform Financial Analysis and Reconciliation of Intercompany, Balance Sheet and Bank Accounts.
- Maintain local QuickBooks general ledger and upload data in Crane Co financial consolidation system, HFM.
- Capital Expenditure follow up, inventory and reconciliation. CAPEX system implementation is a plus.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing average costs to actual production costs. Highlighting key insights and recommendations.
- Responsible for Cycle Count and Annual Physical Inventory tracking, reporting, and validating accuracy.
- Reconcile material and labor variances and productivities.
- Monitor and report on inventory obsolescence and slow-moving items.
- Ensure the proper valuation of inventory and BOM audit. Implement and maintain cost control systems and procedures.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and monitor margins by product.
- Work closely with production and purchasing departments to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Assist with Business Process procedures & risk assessments (Sarbanes-Oxley 404).
- Assist internal and external audits request and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure financial systems & procedures are in place to provide adequate internal controls.
- Prepare Monthly reports including Cash Flow, Inventory Turns, Capital Spending, Order Backlog, Product Line, Headcount, and other statistical data.
- Assist in development of Budgets and Forecasts.
- Conduct special projects and analysis as requested by management.
Support Crane tax department on annual tax reports and forms
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CMA or CPA a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization.
- Excellent Excel, Microsoft Office, HFM and QuickBooks knowledge, preferred.
