Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Shop Painter, where your expertise will bring precision, quality, and durability to a wide range of industrial and fabricated components.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to machinery, structural parts, and assemblies using advanced painting techniques. Your skills will help ensure our products meet rigorous standards for appearance, corrosion resistance, and longevity.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, and masking using hand tools and power tools to ensure optimal adhesion.
- Operate airless paint spraying equipment and other industrial painting tools to apply coatings efficiently and evenly.
- Touch-ups on fabricated parts to achieve smooth finishes.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts, cranes, and other materials handling equipment to move completed parts within the shop.
- Use precision measuring instruments and basic math skills to verify dimensions and ensure accurate application of coatings.
- Conduct quality inspections of painted surfaces for consistency, coverage, and defect detection; perform touch-ups as needed.
- Collaborate with fabrication, machining, assembly, and welding teams to coordinate work flow and meet production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by properly storing hand tools, power tools, paints, and materials in accordance with safety protocols.
- Other Duties as assigned by management
- Interpret Drawings to determine areas where paint is not needed.
- Proven experience in industrial or construction painting environments with knowledge of painting techniques.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, airless paint sprayers, power tools, hand tools, safely and effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes including materials handling and assembly practices.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction on the shop floor.
- Warehouse experience is preferred for managing inventory of paints, coatings, abrasives, and supplies.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to mix multi part paint/primer to manufacturer specification ensuring proper adhesion and curing.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment while adhering to all safety regulations related to industrial painting and materials handling.
