What you’d be responsible for
•Create and manage a local government affairs business plan that includes mission, vision, values, strategic positioning, operational plans and resource allocation to achieve company goals.
•Develop and implement a comprehensive government relations strategy with a primary focus on local government in Arizona, while supporting state and federal initiatives as needed.
•Represent EUSA to local government officials (elected and non-elected). Develop and recommend a relationship building and maintenance strategy for EUSA through effective identification, engagement and networking with government officials (elected and non-elected)
•Strategically plan and identify the necessary budget requirements to ensure the provision of effective local government relations services.
•Ensure that Local Government Relations’ strategies are at all times aligned with and support achieving EPCOR’s Long-Term Plan.
•Actively participate in the company’s commitment to a “zero-injury” workplace and assure that safe working practices and rules are followed.
•Work with various members of the public, including contractors, developers, customers, as well as employees at various levels in the organization with patience, attentiveness, clear communication skills, knowledge of EPCOR’s services and messaging, and empathy.

•Cultivating and establishing municipal relations within the State of Arizona
•Assisting and managing Grant Endeavors
•Perform other duties as assigned to support the company’s objectives and adapt to the evolving needs of EPCOR USA
•Ensure all government relations activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, including lobbying and ethics regulations.
•Advocate for the company’s interests in meetings, public hearings, and other forums with government entities and/or stakeholders relevant to the specific endeavors.
•Other duties as assigned.
What’s required to be successful
•Bachelor's degree in Applied Communications, Political Science or a related discipline preferred.
•Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in Government Relations or Public Affairs.
•Experience in the utility industry or related field with expertise in handling local GR, including experience with state, county, and municipal officials is preferred.
•Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills as well as strong communication skills, solid time management and organization skills.
•Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel required.
•Excellent interpersonal skills, strong influencing skills.
•Excellent leadership skills, presence and the ability to deal effectively with and maintain productive relationships with employees at all levels, senior management and various external stakeholders.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills (persuasion, listening, cooperation and diplomacy) that create an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect among all team members.
•Valid Arizona Driver's License with good driving history.

Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. •A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
•To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
