SENIOR UTILITY TECHNICIAN
The Senior Utility Technician is responsible for performing various general labor activities that include the operation of large machinery in order to provide jobsite assistance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates vehicles & special equipment including forklift, backhoe, amphibious vehicle and vactor.
- Keeps a detailed log of all maintenance activity
- Assists with identifying safety improvements related to facilities, equipment and procedures.
- Makes scheduled inspections.
- Performs lawn and gardening maintenance and repair.
- Carries equipment from manhole to manhole. Lifts manhole covers on and off.
- Shovels dirt and gravel.
- Maintains inventory of parts and maintenance supplies.
- Cleans office including: vacuuming, sweeping, trash pickup, bathroom/kitchen clean up.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Willing to work all shifts, including: weekends, holidays, evening and 24-hour emergency on call.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED and 2-3 years Distribution/Collection System experience.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License (Class A CDL required in order to drive combination rig of truck, trailer & backhoe) and maintains insurable driving record. Level 1 Distribution/Collection System Operator license or Water/Wastewater License and ability to complete Level 2 within one year.
Technical: Ability to follow manual & operating instructions. Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures & safety practices. Ability to perform routine maintenance/repairs. Ability to work with required tools (including jack hammer, demolishing saw, etc.). Comfortable in and around water/raw sewage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: frequently lift 50-80 pounds; load, unload & move large equipment/tools; access confined spaces; continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
