The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

Senior Project Specialist
The Senior Project Specialist is responsible for the cost, schedule, quality, reporting and overall coordination for the engineering, procurement, and construction phases of assigned projects. This role will also act at the Earthworks superintendent’s deputy during the weekends / or when the department superintendent is onsite/available.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Leading and coordinating Earthworks Projects resources.
•Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures. The Lead Project Specialist is responsible for the application of the Health and Safety policy in the field.
•Responsible for contractor and Earthworks project team activities in the field when Earthworks superintendent is offsite.
•Efficiently and accurately roster contractors and other resources to ensure seamless construction activities.
•Optimizing the contractor equipment fleet is optimized to minimize disruption and maximize productivity, efficiency, and safety.
•Support the interface between contractors and Cote Gold departments to develop the overall engineering for assigned projects from the design phase through implementation.
•Work closely with other Cote Gold engineering departments to ensure a clear scope of work and proper business case justification.
•Oversight the development of scopes of work for internal review.
•Liaise with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and supply chain to facilitate seamless project execution.
•Oversight of the development cost estimates for project scope and obtain approvals through the authorization for expenditure process.
•Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle and provide updated schedule and cost forecasts.
•Identify project delivery risk and develop/implement mitigation strategies to safeguard the assigned project outcomes.
•Oversight of effective execution of all aspects of the project team deliverables, including direct technical deliverables, as well as environmental, safety and regulatory deliverables.
•Provide input into technical deviation requests.
•Coordinate requests from third party contractors and consultants.
•Support decisions and resolve execution issues to ensure projects remain on track, balancing cost, schedule and quality.
•Ensure third parties fulfill all the requirements in the respective agreements.
•Create work orders and change orders.
•Participate in engineering reviews as required.
•Ensure appropriate project controls are in place and analyzed such that real time knowledge of project execution is available, understood and acted upon.
Area 2:
Operational Excellence.

•Watch for inefficiencies or problems and implement corrective actions.
•Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
•Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

Area 3:
Work Collaboratively with Others to Deliver Operational Reliability.
•Be a promotor of people, process, and technology, developing Côté Gold as the mine of the future and establishing such culture.
•Foster an inclusive work environment.
•Provides leadership and direction to the Supervisors, Contractors, and stakeholders to ensure that the business and construction plan objectives are met.
•Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
•Mentor and train new team members if directed by Earthworks Superintendent.
•Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
•Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
•Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
•Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow-up.
•Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Safety & Sustainability Expectations
Directly accountable for the health and safety of yourself, your department, and local communities. Directly accountable for ensuring activities are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner. Demonstrate visible leadership on Health, Safety and Environmental performance at all times if in production environments. Be alert and observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions. Develop, train, and ensure all staff follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Ensure that work areas are in compliance with all of IAMGOLD’s Health and Safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Acts in the applicable jurisdiction, including Ontario’s Regulation for Construction Projects. Intervene as necessary to ensure the safety of others in the workplace.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
•Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with at least 7 years’ experience.
•Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is required.
•Ministry Supervisor Training considered it an asset.
Work experience - Nature & Length
•10 years or more of Earthworks Construction experience.
•Previous exposure to tailing management facilities or other significant mining infrastructure is an asset.
•Previous exposure to multi-disciplinary team leadership is desirable, but not essential.
•Digital literacy is required.

•Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and work methods.
