SGC Surveying is seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager (SPM) to lead the successful execution of complex land surveying and geospatial projects. This role is ideal for a results-driven leader with a strong background in the Survey/Geospatial industry who thrives on driving clarity, consistency, and client satisfaction.
Compensation is based on experience.
What You'll Do:
Project Leadership & Execution
•Oversee all non-technical aspects of survey projects, including scope, scheduling, cost control, communication, invoicing, and closeout.
•Manage and mentor office-based Project Managers, fostering best practices and efficient processes across multiple project teams.
•Align project roles and resources with client, industry, and regulatory requirements to ensure success from start to finish.
•Collaborate with survey field leads, licensed surveyors, and drafters to meet scope and budgetary goals.
Client & Team Engagement
•Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
•Lead project meetings, ensure effective communication, and proactively manage expectations and deliverables.
•Support cross-divisional initiatives and ensure seamless project transitions across operational teams.
Financial & Operational Management
•Monitor project profitability, review timecards, support invoicing, and prepare financial status reports.
•Lead project closeout efforts including lessons learned and final accounting.
•Support business development, lead proposal efforts, and contribute to company growth by building client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
Mentorship & Professional Growth
•Provide ongoing training and mentorship to junior team members.
•Lead by example, sharing technical and leadership insights with peers and direct reports.
•Maintain active engagement with industry trends and professional networks.
What You Bring:
Experience & Education
•Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
•10+ years of progressive experience in land surveying, civil project management, and field operations.
•Proven success managing diverse surveying projects (boundary resolution, construction layout, utilities, etc.).
•Natural gas project experience is a plus.
•Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure preferred but not required.
Technical Proficiency
•Proficient with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, AutoCAD, Excel, and other project management tools.
•Strong understanding of project lifecycle profitability, invoicing, and financial reporting.
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Leadership & Communication
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, influence, and negotiate.
•Skilled in conflict resolution, mentoring, and process improvement.
