The
Senior Market Operations Associateis responsible for supporting compliance with the Independent System Operator or Regional Transmission Operator (ISO/RTO) for the existing generator fleet and for onboarding new generation.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage the registration and qualification process for new projects in assigned Independent System Operator (ISO) or Regional Transmission Operator (RTO) regions, adhering to deadlines for submitting required documentation
- Analyze operational data and develop asset performance reports for internal stakeholders
- Coordinate with internal teams to develop responses for ISO/RTO requests for information (RFIs)
- Support the scheduling of testing for assets and submit test results to ISO/RTOs
- Review ISO/RTO rules and market changes; summarize impacts for dissemination to impacted internal teams
- Maintain correct documentation and evidence of submissions made to ISO/RTOs
- Administer the issuance of digital certificates to other company departments required for proper access to ISO/RTO portals
- Ensure compliance with ISO/RTO requirements to support the generation fleet
- Monitor ISO/RTO meetings to remain current with policies
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline is preferred
- A minimum of 6 years of work experience in lieu of a degree
- A minimum of 4 years in power markets with proven ability to achieve daily and assigned tasks
- Internal staff: 2 years in the Market Operations Senior Analyst role with expertise in at least 3 ISOs/RTOs
- Expertise and knowledge of Protocols/Tariffs in any of the following ISOs/RTOs: AESO, CAISO, ERCOT, ISO-NE, MISO, NYISO, and PJM
- Must be able to manage work with minimum supervision, take ownership of tasks, and drive solutions
- Must be able to balance between internal technical constraints, resource requirements, and external uncertainties surrounding new market rules and new generation sources
- Ability to interact with different functional groups and external counterparties.
- Motivated to seek solutions to known challenges and improvements to existing procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership and communication
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and timely deliverables
- Ability to multitask, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- This position is an office-based role in Austin, TX, with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods
